An English Country Wedding at Mellow Farm in Surrey
I’ve finally got around to blogging about an absolutely lovely wedding I photographed this summer on a farm in Surrey. Lucy and John had their wedding at Mellow Farm in Surrey, and got ready beforehand at Groomes, which is another lovely wedding venue just down the road. I think when I eventually get married it’s just the sort of thing I might like to do for my wedding – beautiful countryside, a barn ceremony, reception in a marquee with vintage table cloths and hay bales. There were so many lovely finishing touches as well, such as helpful signs and wooden hearts, which were created by Lucy’s talented cousin, who did the flowers and venue styling. The only downside, it was a ridiculously hot summers day and the barn was like a sauna!!! And the poor bride had chosen her wedding dress thinking of typical English weather, not scorching heat, therefore she was rather warm in the many layers of netting, which also turned into a bit of a fly net :-s
Lucy and John are such a lovely couple, and their wedding ceremony was very moving because they had written their own vows, which were just beautiful. I was standing at the front with my camera with tears in my eyes for all to see! Lucy is a singing teacher, and I met her a couple of years ago when I did the photography for the Rock Workshop at the West End Centre in Aldershot, which happens every summer. Lucy and John, being very musical, have some very talented friends who played music at their wedding before, during and after the ceremony, and Lucy also surprised John in the early evening by playing the guitar and singing a love song she’d written for him, which was just so lovely to witness 🙂
Here are just some of the images from the day…
