Laura and Brett’s Spring Wedding at Old Thorns Hotel & Spa in Hampshire

My first wedding of 2017 went marvelously well! It was held at the spectacularly large and quirky venue – Old Thorns Hotel and Spa in Liphook, Hampshire.

The Happy Couple…

I first met Laura and Brett at a wedding fair held at The Guildford Harbour Hotel (formally Radisson Blu) in 2016. Brett and Laura have been together for around 10 years now, and met at University. Laura works in HR at Surrey Uni, and Brett is a lawyer for an insurance company in London and is originally from South Africa. They like the outdoors, biking and running. They wanted a pre-wedding photo shoot at a grand castle location, so we went to Midhurst and then had tea and cake and a few more photos in the Cowdray Walled Gardens (beautiful spot for wedding photos!).

I love how Brett and Laura printed and framed some of their pre-wedding photos to add to the wedding decorations in the room!

The Wedding Venue – Old Thorns Hotel and Spa

Laura and Brett chose to have their wedding at Old Thorns – their ceremony was in the chapel room, and reception in the grand Gatsby Ballroom. Set in the picturesque surroundings of the Hampshire countryside, Old Thorns has five rooms licensed for civil ceremonies, each with its own individual ambience and style. Their facilities offer truly spectacular views and they can cater for up to 500 guests.

Navy Blue colour scheme with South African influences…

Laura and Brett took the name and logo of Old Thorns and used this as inspiration for the table names of the wedding breakfast. These are a mixture of British and Southern African trees reflecting Brett’s background having grown up in Durban, South Africa, up until the age of 18. There was also some light pink touches in the flowers and so Brett went for some bright pink and blue socks for the father of the bride and father of the groom as well as the best man/ushers. There was a gorgeous flower arch in the Chapel Room for the ceremony, which was later moved to the main Gatsby Suite behind the top table.
