Jilly & Mike’s Winter Wedding Photography at Farnham Castle
Jilly and Mike got married in between Christmas and New Year, at the fabulous Farnham Castle in
Surrey. I’d already photographed a few weddings there (you might have seen a bridal fashion shoot I photographed at Farnham Castle last Spring), but this was the first time I’d seen the refurbishment, which has made it into an even more stunning wedding venue!
The bar has been re-located to the balcony in the main hall allowing more space for guests, and new curtains have been fitted to make the acoustics of the room much better for live music… not to mention the fabulous new Gate House! The Gate House has been transformed into a fantastic ‘getting ready’ area for the bridal party with a few separate dressing rooms and a lovely lounge downstairs.
Jilly and Mike are such a lovely couple, who have been married before and both have grown-up children. I thought it was so lovely that Jilly asked her son to give her away because her parents were no longer with us.
It was a winters day at the end of December, when we had the worst weather over Christmas and New Years causing floods and hurricane winds – and on the day of the wedding the sun came out! It might not have been warm enough for the guests to want to socialise outside, but I managed to get the bride and groom out for some photos in the afternoon sunshine which I was so pleased about.
Mike wrote me a lovely review after the wedding, which you will find on my Google+ page: “Absolutely brilliant, we were blown away with the brilliant series of photographs that Ginny took at our wedding at Farnham Castle. We have had nothing but great comments on the fantastic pictures from everyone. Ginny was discrete and coaxed great photos out of a camera shy bride and groom. We are delighted!”
Here are a few (or quite a lot!) of my favourite images from the day…
