Jo & Mike’s non-traditional quirky wedding at the Hawk Conservancy, Andover

Jo and Mike had the most interestingly different and non-traditional wedding I’ve photographed yet! They got married at the Hawk Conservancy in Andover, Hampshire, and planned their whole day around the bird flying displays, even moving their wedding breakfast to immediately after the ceremony to fit everything in! It was brilliant for me, because I had to think outside the box and not have the same routine as a ‘normal’ wedding. I even had to become a wildlife photographer! Jo and Mike just wanted the day to be really relaxed and fun for their guests, with lots to see and do, which there certainly was!

We still managed to fit in some group photos and I sneaked them both off for half an hour in-between flying displays to take some lovely photos of the two of them together, away from their guests. I think it’s important for couples to have that time and also absorb the fact they’ve just got married, because the day goes so fast they probably wouldn’t get to talk to each other much otherwise!

Jo’s dress was just stunning. It was a black and cream dress with gorgeous black lace flower detailing, with black and red lace choker and gloves, and because Jo is Polish, she had the dress made in Poland at a fraction of the price it would normally cost in the UK! Mike wore a fabulous Tuxedo with matching colours, including a red bow tie and cummerbund.
