Michelle & Jamie’s Gorgeous Rustic Vintage Wedding at Grittenham Barn

About the Couple

Michelle and Jamie met on the Disney Wonder cruise ship in Mexico. Michelle was the hairdresser on board and Jamie was a musician in the band. They spent a lot of time together in Mexico, San Francisco, San Diego and Hawaii whilst on the cruise, so were very lucky to get to know each other really well within a relatively short period of time.

Who proposed to who and how?

Jamie proposed in Paris at the lovelock bridge near Notre Dame. Michelle nearly discovered the ring earlier in the day on the Paris metro!! Luckily she didn’t and the whole proposal was an amazing surprise.

The Wedding Theme

The whole theme was rustic Vintage. Lots of hessian and creams, blush pink and champagne tones. It was really elegant. There were lots of random jars and wooden log slices for the table decorations. A bit farm yard like, and very effective. I love this wedding style!

The Entertainment

Boy did this wedding have some good entertainment! Jamie is in two bands, both of which entertained the guests, and they had an incredible Bagpipe group – I never knew that Bagpipe music could get a crowd going like they did! One of their wedding guests, who they met on the cruise ship, also got the crowd doing a bit of line dancing, which was brilliant too.

Why did they choose Grittenham Barn

Jamie had played a gig at Grittenham Barn last year sometime and he really liked it. There was no sound limiter and the acoustic in there is great for live music which they both wanted. Jamie showed it to Michelle because he knew she’d like the rustic theme along with the donkeys, cats, pigs and chickens they also keep at the barn. The venue really suited the country, hill billy rustic theme that they wanted for the wedding!

A Little More About The Venue

Grittenham Barn is a traditional stone Sussex barn with breathtaking views over the South Downs. It has been immaculately restored and features a stunning central fireplace. Grittenham is set in the heart of the West Sussex countryside between Petworth and Midhurst. The site predates the 17th Century and is mentioned in the Domesday Book The barn, farmhouse and outbuildings are Grade II listed and this beautiful property set in stunning gardens with a lake, orchard and woodland.
