Ruxandra and Lucas’ Colourful Pembroke Lodge Wedding in Richmond Park
The Happy Couple…
It was so lovely to hear about how Ruxandra and Lucas got together – they’ve known each other since school but apparently didn’t really get on, and only realised they liked each other after they’d left. They have been together ever since 🙂 It seems like, it’s a case of opposite’s attract, and they compliment each other perfectly! They are such a sweet couple so it was such a pleasure to photograph their wedding.
Rux and Lucas had a pre-wedding photo shoot at their venue in Richmond Park, and it rained all day! Check out their pre-wedding shoot blog, HERE.
Ruxandra says, “Lucas proposed to me on 31st Dec 2014 at midnight as the fireworks were going off in Bruge, amongst hundreds of people. I had surprised him with the trip as a Christmas present and he surprised me with a ring!”
The Venue… Pembroke Lodge, Richmond Park, London
Ruxandra and Lucas had their beautiful colourful summer wedding at Pembroke Lodge, Richmond Park as it fitted their theme perfectly. It also meant so much to them as a couple as it was where they had one of their first dates. Also, one of their favourite things to do together is going to feed the squirrels and ducks, as well as going for cycle rides together at Richmond Park. They kept their wedding intimate and surrounded by family and friends.
Pembroke Lodge is a unique Grade II listed Georgian Mansion situated at the highest point of the largest Royal Park in London. The building is steeped in history with many royal, political and military connections. Pembroke Lodge has been lovingly restored by The Hearsum Family Limited, and as a result providing two fully fitted banqueting suites and award-winning tea rooms. I love how organised Pembroke Lodge weddings are, and every time I photograph a wedding there, there’s always another wedding on in the same building but it’s done with such expertise that nobody would ever know!
The Lodge is located on 11 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds with outstanding photographic opportunities and spectacular views over the Thames Valley.
Wedding Style… Flowery, with a mix of bright colours and large balloons…
Ruxandra and Lucas’ Richmond Park Wedding had a flowery wedding theme and a mix of bright colours. Since Ruxandra and Lucas didn’t want to have a traditional wedding party thing; they planned on having a big party consequently then all their friends and family can celebrate together.
Ruxandra’s bridesmaids wore beautiful navy blue dresses with lace detailing at the neckline. Their bouquets were yellow and white with a beautiful mix of wildflowers and daisies because yellow is Ruxandra’s favourite colour! Whilst the groomsmen wore suits in the same shade of blue with yellow ties.
The venue was decorated with simplistic but elegant. It had vibrant coloured ribbons and bouquets in vases on each table with gorgeous red and yellow flowers in them. There was a DIY Photo Booth with props in the corner. The delicious-looking cake was made by Remember the Cake it was designed in a fun and elegant style with icing dripping down and flowers scattered around the sides and topped off with a bow on top and hundreds and thousands on the bottom!
Highlight of the Day…!
The highlight of Ruxandra and Lucas’ wedding (apart from the glorious weather for the majority of the day), another highlight was the giant clear balloons that were filled with colourful confetti!! There were confetti pops after the ceremony, and then the balloons got popped over Ruxandra and Lucas in their first dance – such a great idea! The DIY Photo Booth was fab and good fun to watch people dress up and pose for the Polaroid camera! Finally, the last highlight had to be the fact that it was a lovely surprise for me and Tarah to receive one of the gift bags each with a bottle of brandy and a yummy macaroon!
Here are some pictures to tell the story of their day…
