How to Find Your Perfect Wedding Photographer

Checklist to find your perfect wedding photographer - Experience, Passion, Personality, Products, Style, Customer service and Backup

It’s important that you choose the right wedding photographer for you, but where do you start? How do you know who the right wedding photographer is?!

Here’s a bit about me…

  • Experience and Passion:

I LOVE photographing weddings! From the moment the bride walks down the aisle, to capturing the love between a bride and groom, to guests enjoying the celebrations – your photographs need to capture the day whilst providing some stunning images that you can cherish forever. I just love capturing happiness, however I see it with my creative vision.

I started working for an award-winning wedding photography studio in 2008, whilst I was completing my degree in Commercial Photography. I’ve been self-employed since 2010 and my business has been steadily growing over the last few years. I’ve lost count of the number of weddings I’ve photographed! Every year I attend workshops in wedding photography and business skills to make sure I constantly push myself to be the best I can be.

  • Personality:

You have to feel comfortable with your wedding photographer. It is my aim to get to know you well enough before your wedding to blend in perfectly with you and your guests on the day. I often get comments on how friendly and smiley I am at weddings and how I put people at ease in front of the camera. I love to do pre-wedding photo shoots with my clients (which are totally optional) because they allow me to get to know my clients better, and my clients to get to know me. I know a lot of people hate having their photo taken, so I’ve learnt little tricks along the way to get my clients to relax and forget they’ve got a camera in front of them!

  • Products:

Apart from your USB of images that you get as standard with every package, I’ve carefully selected three different high-quality photo albums, that suit different budgets and tastes, to perfectly reflect your wedding day. I believe all images should be printed in some form or another! Technology can become obsolete but wedding albums last generations. I also have a range of other photographic products such as wall or desktop prints and frames, and giftware.

  • Style:

I approach my weddings with a photojournalistic view, which means I look for little moments and details that all help tell the story of your day, and aim to make my photography appear very natural and relaxed, capturing all the fun and laughter. I love showing happiness and making people happy with my images. I also love to get some stunning images of the wedding couple, with the aim of you hardly noticing I’m there with a camera. I’m quite organised and like to make a photography schedule, and will keep you informed throughout the day of what’s next and when, without being strict about it – it’s your day and you need to enjoy it!

I love all weddings, but the kind of weddings I REALLY LOVE are styles inspired by Rustic, Vintage, DIY, Industrial, Shabby Chic, Bohemian, Moroccan, Urban, Country and/or Tuscan… You can see my personal style on my Pinterest page, HERE.

  • Customer Service:

Excellent customer service is really important to me. We try to respond to e-mails within 24 hours, but most of the time we reply within the hour! I’ve been a Regional Finalist in the Wedding Industry Awards, for the Best Wedding Photographer in the South East category, for two years running now (2015 and 2016) – this proves that my clients rate me very highly and would recommend me to others. You can see some of my reviews on my Facebook Business Page.

It’s so important to me to build a good relationship with my clients. I’m always here to offer any advice, whether it be photography related or not, and even recommend suppliers who I’ve worked with and trust. It’s important you have confidence in my ability and feel confident you have chosen the perfect photographer for your wedding.

  • Backup:

My camera equipment has evolved over the past few years to be of the highest quality and range of lenses and equipment to cover any lighting situation or scenario on your wedding day. I always have a backup for everything! Even after the wedding when I download the images, I have all the latest software and multiple disk drives for backing up your files.

I also have a close network of talented wedding photography friends, who I can call upon in emergency, should I need to. It’s never happened, but you can never say never! It always pays to be prepared.

If you want to chat to me about any of the above, or check my availability for your wedding and get a quote, I’d love to hear from you! Please get in touch.

Also, if you know of anyone who might benefit from this information, please share or pin the infographic above to your Pinterest page!

Many thanks 🙂 Ginny x
