Laura and Beth’s Rustic Woodland Wedding at Balmer Lawn Hotel, New Forest

The Happy Couple…

Laura and Beth are so lovely and compliment each other perfectly! They both love spending time outdoors walking their 3 dogs (2 of which were at the ceremony! Milo and Finch) and enjoying the countryside and going cycling.

Beth proposed in Iceland, at night down by the coast in the snow. She showed Laura a picture of the dogs where one was balancing the ring on his nose and the other had a sign around his neck that said ‘will you marry me’

The Venue… Balmer Lawn Hotel, Lyndhurst

Laura and Beth had their beautiful rustic woodland summer wedding at Balmer Lawn Hotel in Lyndhurst originally in the mid-1800’s as a hunting lodge. The room was really light and airy which really complimented their decorations and theme.

This Balmer Lawn Hotel Wedding was perfect for this venue! The hotel is a classic Country House Hotel set in the very heart of the New Forest National Park. Undoubtedly one of the most iconic buildings in the area surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, rivers, wildlife and the stunning forest itself. It really did feel special in the beautiful and romantic surroundings.

With 54 individually designed bedrooms and suites, some of which include elegant four-poster beds, a sumptuous Spa for a little pampering, indoor & outdoor pools, gym & leisure facilities and roaring fires in our beautifully furnished lounge, it had lovely character.

Wedding Style… A rustic theme, lots of wood and bunting, with wildflowers in mason jars…

Since Laura and Beth didn’t want to have a traditional wedding party thing, they planned on having a big party with all of their friends and family celebrating with them as neither of them really liked to be in the limelight.

Laura’s bridesmaids wore beautiful maroon dresses that were all slightly different as both Laura and Beth gave their bridesmaids the colour scheme and they chose their dresses individually. Beth’s bridesmaids wore a lovely royal blue colour. Their bouquets were simple with bunches of gypsophila each wrapped up together with hessian to bring it all together.

The venue was decorated with simplistic but elegant. It had bunting and bouquets in mason jars on each table with pine cones and wooden shapes. There was a bring your own cake table in the corner with some fantastically decorated cakes of all types on it brought by their guests. Their delicious-looking cake was shop brought but some much fun with all different types of sweets on top of it!

Highlight of the Day…

The highlight of Laura and Beth’s wedding (apart from the glorious weather for the day), was the surprise entertainment of Mike Stoner the magician, which Beth didn’t know about until the day. He was really good and kept the guests and both brides in shock for a long time!
