Tris & Margaret’s boho country Surrey wedding

Check out Tris & Margaret’s wedding video of their boho country Surrey wedding!

About the happy couple…

Margaret and Tris met when they were only 11 years old! They were together for a fair while before Tris popped the magical question; he made sure it was extra magical by doing it in Iceland. Margaret was very happily surprised!

I met them both whilst working at the Bat & Ball pub in Farnham (where I worked part-time for 9 years!). It was so lovely to witness two friends who I’ve known for many years get married. I was so honoured to be asked to document their big day 🙂

Wedding venue – ceremony at The Bush Hotel followed by the reception in a Tipi in a field

The ceremony was held in Bush Hotel in Farnham. It is an old character building with wooden beams and old paintings so has a lovely classical feel. The girls got ready at the hotel, which definitely made life easier for them since they didn’t need to worry about getting to the venue! The boys went for breakfast at The Queens Head pub; luckily for them, it doesn’t take as long to get ready. So Tris was able to get some drinks in to calm his nerves!

After their beautiful ceremony, they travelled over to their reception in a field just out of town. Tris and Marg have a lot of love for camping! They used to both be guides/ scouts and Margaret is now a guide leader. They had actually camped before in the very spot where they were celebrating their wedding. So it seemed quite fitting that they decided to camp there on their wedding night! What a lovely way to end the day too.

Wedding style – Rustic, boho country vibe

Surrey wedding photographer | Ginny Marsh PhotographyTris insisted they didn’t have a theme or style for their wedding, but I thought it all fitted together perfectly! They had a really laid back rustic, boho country wedding vibe.

Margaret was wearing a beautiful boho style dress from Exquisite Bridal Couture. The bridesmaids were wearing lovely teal coloured dresses which went really well with the oranges worn by the groom’s party and all of the orange flowers. Tris was wearing a lovely navy suit and a navy waistcoat with an orange back to it. The navy and orange really complimented each other. He also wore a pair of trousers! This may seem odd to point out but Tris will typically only be seen in shorts – even in the rain! It was such a big deal that he was wearing trousers that he even got sewn into the inside of his jacket “I wish I was wearing shorts”. I love it when people add their own personal touches like this!

The beautiful bouquets and flowers were created by the lovely Bex from Blush Floral Design. They used orange and white, with a few subtle red and pink flowers and green foliage. These colours worked perfectly together and created such a warm, fun and rustic feeling.

To continue the rustic outdoorsy theme in their seating plan each table was named after a tree. The plan was very elegantly handwritten with simple but beautiful drawings of trees. It was another nice personal touch.

They had a Tipi marquee decorated with warm fairy lights, lanterns, and pom poms all matching their colour scheme which created a fun festival atmosphere! There were also a few DIY wooden signs which welcomed their guests, gave directions, outlined the day, and were just used as cute little decor. It was little things like this and the wooden slices for centerpieces that contributed to the rustic outdoorsy theme. The fairy lights and bunting hanging in the trees was also a nice touch!

They wanted their day to be as relaxed and fun as possible. So they put games around for everyone to play and used haystacks as seats!

Highlight of the day – the folk band and dancing!

Tris and Margaret organised a brilliant country folk band to get people dancing into the night, which can be a bit more personal and definitely continued with the theme! See a link to the band’s website below…
